If you want to make money on the internet, you may think of starting an affiliate marketing program. This is where you have a product that you are allowed to promote. In return for this promotion, you get a share of the profits from the product. Some of them make more than others, and that allows you to figure out where you want to focus your attention. Getting involved with affiliate marketing can seem tricky, but if you know what to do to get started, everything comes along much easier. Here are some tips to get you on your way.
Start by knowing what kind of products you want to promote. There are a number of people looking for affiliates out there, so you want to go with something you can seem like an expert on. If you know nothing about a product, people won't trust you or your business. Think about what you like and know about and try to find products that work around that. You may want to find an array of products that all fit in the same niche so you can promote them all at once.
Once you have a product to market, you need to have a site to put them on. Register a domain name and get a website put together. This doesn't have to be fancy. All you want to do is get people from there to the product. You can offer a free service on there so people are enticed to buy whatever it is you're selling. You might have a newsletter to send out or maybe an e-book that you can give to people. Don't spend too much time on free material, but spend enough for them to want to come back and buy something from you.
Once you get some customers into your site, you need to keep them there. Keep in communication with them through emails just so they remember to come back or tell their friends about what you have to offer. Also make sure to constantly promote your site and products so you continuously get traffic. Note that there will be other affiliates out there selling just what you are. Try to plan a way to make yourself stay ahead. If you have special free offers, people may be more inclined to buy from you than from others who are just selling something. Keep them enticed and the money will roll in.

what would be a good topic for a website i plan on making money off through ad space, affiliate marketing, and i want a good amount of traffic. I know i need to do a subject im interested in but i need help brainstorming. Also anyone experienced in this have any tips and how long did it take you to start making money with your website and how much a month are you making now?
It really doesn't matter what others would do, it only matters what you would do. It must be a subject that interests you, or you're not going to stick with it. This is a long process.
So, make a list of the topics of interest you. Then spend some time on Google and look at the sites on that topic. Are there a bunch of high quality sites already? Can you find a niche that will differentiate you?
Then, take these topics and go to the Google AdWords Tool. Find out if the keywords appropriate for those topics actually have any search volume. If not, you may have trouble building traffic for your site. But with a niche, you may be able to make it work anyways.
Once you've decided on a topic, start creating content. Create killer content, and lots of it. Don't worry about traffic.
When you've got a good amount of traffic, start promoting the site in the search engines and social networks.
Meanwhile, keep creating more good content.
Once you've built some traffic, you might install Google AdSense to see if it generates some income. You'll be tempted to install it right away, but I'd recommend against it. You're not likely to make much money, and you might turn off some users. You need users to keep coming back to build your traffic.
As your traffic builds, maybe 10,000's of visitors per day, you might look at selling advertising directly. It's a major pain, but you'll retain the money from what you sell (Google keeps people north of 90% with AdSense).
